Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

One thing I love about living where I do is how beautiful it looks after a rainstorm when the wind blows the clouds away. This is what I woke up to this morning!

Busy, Busy, Busy

No, not doing housework-lol. I spent almost all day Saturday scrapping. I've wanted to work on a cookbook, so that's what I did. Here's a couple of the six that I finished. I love long weekends!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am very happy - I've lost 40lbs as of this morning! I am really thankful that I've had this surgery and that everything is going so well.

San Diego

We're back from 4 wonderful days in San Diego! We visited the Zoo, Old Town (twice!), Seaport Village, the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, and the Midway. Now I need a vacation to recouperate from the vacation! Here's a couple of pics that were taken for us.

Terri's Last Lunch

It was so good to meet up with some of the Gang from OH today. Terri is having her surgery on Monday & we gave her a great sendoff at TGIFriday's today. Here's a picture that Heather posted of us all: Dena, Monica, Gaylene, Terri, Me, Katt &( skinny) Heather in the front. Heather is really an inspiration - she had her surgery in March & has already lost 100lbs!

30 Big Ones!

This morning when I stepped on my trusty scale I am 30 pounds down! Woo Hoo!! I haven't exercised too much this week, only 2 miles. If it's not smoky, I'll take Sydney for a walk.

I can eat!

I went to see Dr. Suh on Tuesday and got the okay to finally eat real food! WooHoo!! I can eat everything except beef, pork, & grapes. Of course I still need to stay away from sugar. So far I've had chicken, tortillas, zucchini, & turkey.

A Beautiful Sunday Drive

Yesterday Mia didn't have to work (rare for a Sunday) so the two of us took our cameras & went for a drive. Our first destination was the lighthouse at Pt. Fermin and then up the coast to the Wayfarer's Chapel. The weather was so perfect you could almost reach out & touch Catalina Island! Here's the page I did with the lighthouse pictures. The hydrangea was in the garden there. And here's the Wayfarer's Chapel pictures too. They really don't do the place justice, it's so pretty.

2 Birthdays Down, 1 to Go

We made it through the first birthdays. With Mia turning 19 on the 20th and Dominic turning 16 on the 27th, it's "Birthday City". Just to add fuel to the fire, we have cousin Adam's on the 25th and little Robert's 3rd birthday on the 28th. September is a popular month. My last birthday of the year is Alissa's on October 25th - then I can finally start Christmas Shopping! Here's a few pictures of Mia & Nic celebrating.

The Dreaded "Before Pictures"

Well, here they are, taken the morning of surgery by Mia. Looking at the side view it looks like I'm pregnant, but it's a toss-up whether my belly or butt would give birth first-lol

Today is my first day home alone. It's been nice except that I finally turned off my phone as work would NOT stop calling! They promised me a week and it hasn't even been 1 whole day!! It's nice to be wanted, but puleeze!!

I'm home now. I didn't get much sleep in the hospital so I'm going to catch up now. I'm doing okay, but not great - it's great to be in my own bed!!

I HAVE A DATE!

No, not THAT kind of date. I have a date for the surgery - September 19th. They'll do it bright & early (7am) & I will be in the hospital for a couple of days & then home. I'm excited & a little scared all at the same time.

Ellie (Eleanor Rigby)

Yes, we decided on this name. Her first complete day at home was great after we found her under the love seat in the family room where she was hiding. Sydney is sooo excited to have a buddy! Here's more pictures.

Miss Kitty

Well, that's the name that the animal shelter gave her. She was found with a broken, infected front leg that had to be amputated. She is an absolutely perfect Siamese kitten, only 3 mos old! We're still looking for that perfect name for her. At this point I like Eleanor Rigby and call her Ellie, but Mia thinks it's too sad a name. I also came up with Heather Mills, but after we all got done laughing hysyterically, we thought against it. (After all, she's trying to fleece our favorite Beatle!) Here's a couple of pictures of her. Don't think for a minute that only 3 legs slows her down much!

Weight Loss Surgery

I had my 1st appointment with the surgeon this week. Dr. Suh (pronounced "Saw") seems very nice and everyone who has had him was VERY happy with him. Next week I am going to the required seminar Monday evening and on Thursday I have my required psych evaluation. It's a little scary and very exciting all at the same time. Thank goodness I have my very supportive family and my friends from Kaiser to help me through it all!
